Thom Bresh was an American country music guitarist and singer. Born in 1948, he was the son of country singer Merle Travis. Active from the 1970s, Bresh charted multiple singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. In 1963, he was a member of the band The Crescents who released a single that peaked at No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100. His first single on Kapp Records charted No. 6 on the Hot Country Songs charts. In 1976, Bresh was nominated by the Academy of Country Music as Top New Male Vocalist. Bresh also was active on television. He hosted a weekly television variety show of his own creation, Nashville Swing, and was a regular guest on both The Merv Griffin Show and Dinah! Bresh also shot, produced, and edited various projects for Lyle Lovett, Brooks & Dunn, George Jones, Tanya Tucker, Merle Haggard and Jerry Reed. Thom Bresh was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2021, and left us in 2022 at the age of 74.
