Drew Zingg was an American rock, blues, soul and jazz guitarist, best known for his performing with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs. He was lead guitarist and musical director of Steely Dan for their reunion tour in 1993 and continued in that capacity through 1995. During this period he toured with the band throughout the United States and a tour throughout Japan in 1994. Zingg also toured for several years with Boz Scaggs. He recorded with, among many others, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Shawn Colvin, Rickie Lee Jones and Gladys Knight. In between tours and album dates, Zingg was busy in the New York studio scene recording jingles and movie soundtracks. He also had extensive work on Broadway, as lead guitarist in many shows. He won a Grammy Award for best Broadway soundtrack of 1995. Drew Zingg passed away in April 2025.
